AN ART-BASED INITIATIVE IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY
Political, social and ideological theories have tried to use culture for other projects: to change the world politically in a certain direction, to move people towards something different.
These were the starting points for theGATE concept, which was developed by Michael Resch, José Teixeira Coelho and Matthias Hauser for theGATE Festival for the state capital Stuttgart in 2017.
In 2024, we successfully staged theGATE in Badalona/Barcelona. It took a strong partner: Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus, to bring this concept to the stage together.
Many thanks to our member, Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus: Fran-Pep-Nadala-Pedro-Helena have really done a great job. They organised a two-month festival with us and always maintained a personal touch, for example with an evening with one of the chefs from the Mugaritz restaurant, which we will not soon forget.
We also collaborated with Manifesta ‘24, S+T ARTS AIR Festival and the European Performing Science Night. The event ‘theGATE Pro’ with a prominent panel of experts from the fields of culture, science and research as well as business clearly demonstrated the relevance of this format for today's world. We hope that it will be continued in Stuttgart.
This was the realisation of the MSC's milestones and we have achieved it together.
The S+T ARTS AIR project (April 2023 to November 2024) entered its final round at theGATE Festival.
As part of the AIR project, artists and scientists who had worked together on their positions for several months at the partner institutions were able to present their impressive work to a wide audience at theGATE.
The MSC managed this project as a regional centre. Many thanks to Matvey Fridman for the great project management!
