AIR for European Resilience

Art and The Digital: Unleashing Creativity for European Industry, Regions and Society

STARTS proposes, innovation as the necessary approach to master the social, ecological, and economic challenges that Europe will face in the near future. STARTS seeks to promote digital innovation through art using a human-centered approach.

In this sense, culture relates to people and their way of life as well as art, and it encompasses the three parameters - sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics - that Europe puts on the same level as innovation based on scientific and technological progress.

These three parameters drive our consortium of partners from research, industry and culture to create our project: Air for European Resilience (AIR).

The AIR project responds to Europe’s aspiration for leadership and reflects the common essence and concern essential to all Europeans – indeed to everything on the planet – the air we breathe.

Based on this reflection and according to initiatives such as STARTS4WATER, the Media Solution Center bw e.V., as a leader of the project, proposes the creation of a consortium of 8 partners from 5 different EU countries to set up 4 Regional STARTS Centres in Germany, Spain, Italy and Slovenia, making available for the first time the technology and knowledge transfer of two of the most important supercomputing centres in Europe AIR builds on the methodology of RSC III with adjustments for interdisciplinary collaboration, co-production and the focus on developing sustainable centres beyond the lifetime of this project.

This approach has been selected to respond to the two objectives of the call: enabling artistic experimentation with key technologies for regional development and the creation of Regional S+T+ARTS Centres as hubs for art-driven innovation.
